Curious what eveyone's thinking is on this whole situation...
My personal opinion. I fail to see why he shouldn't be allowed to compete for a spot on his team, just like everyone else in the NFL is allowed to do. I'm not saying he should be guaranteed a starting spot just because he showed up. But there is no reason why he shouldn't be allowed to compete for that job. If the Packers are so confident in Aaron Rodgers, then what do they have to worry about?
I know a lot of people have said they're tired of this story, but to be honest, during the summer the only sports news is generally baseball, and since I can't stand baseball, I don't mind a little media circus over a real sport (football).
What do you guys think?

Does the Madden curse apply if you are wearing another jersey?
We shall see, because he won't be wearing Green Bay colors come opening day. And I think everyone affected by the Madden curse has been on that same team the following season.

If Green Bay trades him, they will lose 25% of their fanbase. Gone.
Magic trick. TADA!
He'll be wearing GB colors. The question is if he'll be on the sidelines or in the huddle. My money is on in the huddle, by week 3.

Well...the Jets kinda wear GB colors, what with the green and white.... So much for my prediction on that. I'm still shocked this actually happened. Wow...

Next step:
The New York Jets trade Brett Favre to the Minnesota Vikings for a #1 pick in 2009 and a #3 in 2011.
Boom, upgrade that probably 2nd round pick you traded GB to a 1st rounder, add an extra pick, be in the same position you thought you were going to be this season anyway, AND screw the Packers. It'd be perfect.
Besides, they aren't beating the Patriots with or without Brett. And you're only getting one year of Brett vs. the New York media before he retires.

This thought was in my head as soon as I heard about the trade last night. I would hope the Jets gm was thinking the same. However, this morning I saw that the Jets were releasing Pennington and that the Packers put in a stipulation where if the Jets traded Favre to the Vikings then they'd owe Green Bay something like 3 future first rounders. So I dont see it happening.

Personally, I think he'll do well this season. He won't have a stellar year, like last year. But I don't think he'll suck it up hardcore, either. I think he'll have a solid, consistent year. I mean, the guy has talent. Yes he's old, but he still looks pretty good, all things considered. I'm not worried about the QB situation in Jets camp. He'll run the team pretty well.
