 Sick of Your Gym?
« Thread Started on Jul 17, 2008, 10:11pm »

Yeah, I'm stealing this idea from EliteFTS, but I thought it'd be a good thread to start...

Anyways, the idea is you post crazy shit that happens at your gym that is just too crazy / stupid / annoying not to rant about...

I'll start...

I'm in the middle of a workout tonight at the gym with Brandon...we're doing a high rep, low weight workout, and I have 175 on the bar, going for like 15-20 reps, whatever...

175 is a 45 and two 10's...so I'm talking to B, right next to this bench, where we've been for 5-10 minutes already, warming up and whatever...this guy comes up to our bar, takes the two 10's off the right side, and walks over to another bench, and loads up his bar. I look at Brandon like...did that really happen? The guy finally looks over, and I'm like "uh...we were using those plates"...so he goes "o, I'm sorry.." and brings over ONE of them! I wasn't even like mad, I was just confused as to how someone could be so fucking stupid. I made him go get me the other one, and meanwhile some guy that I see in my gym all the time is watching this all unfold, and is just cracking up...

I seriously couldn't even be mad. I was just shocked that it had actually happened. Ridiculous, seriously...

With a lot of our readers in college, there have GOTTA be a lot of crazy bullshit stories about college gyms out there...so lets hear 'em...

A new one for the thread - at the gym with B last night and we spot a guy in full on work clothing, PLUS a pair of boat sandals trying to do some machine assisted chest presses. Seriously, like what the fuck? Sandals? I wonder what your toe would look like if you dropped a 45 on your open toes...

I hate the guys that don't do the work outs correctly... you may be able to lift twice your body weight in a squat rack, but that doesn't matter when you can't get past 120 degree knee bend (in a squat you should be 90 degrees or lower)....I've found that Cross Country and Track runners are notorious for this problem, which is why i avoid these people at all times.

I don't mind if men grunt when doing their heavy lifting. Understandable. Whatever. But when I come in early to get a morning workout in before it gets packed and crowded, and the only other person in the hot, music-less college fitness center is a 40 yr old woman grunting on the ELLIPTICAL machine...something must be done!
